Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park, California?

Hi, has anyone been? If so, can you tell me about the campsites? We are staying at site #123...I love the coastal redwoods and hope that the campgrounds itself have a lot of them. ...AND... does anyone know about how long the drive will be (in hours) if we take Hwy 1 from Santa Monica to Big Sur? Mapquest only shows us from 101 to SLO, then onto hwy 1 (about 6 hours)...but, we love the CA coastline and want to make the most of our excursion.
